Long story short bought pony as project last winter to get into youngsters again etc. Turned out to be a right cracker, jumps like stink and nice paces too - but no luck selling this year. Had some calls, and emails, but she's almost too talented to sell easily, as you need to know how to ride. V sweet and bomproof otherwise though! Question is, what do I do with her? Winter is coming, and she's still here!

Keep her and hunt her and get her out and about - the more people that see her the more chance of selling her I would think.:)

Can you do any indoor eventer trials over the winter so people can see her? that and dressage and sjing should all help with her exposure.:)

You never know who is there watching and looking to buy.:)

I would keep her and train her up, take her out hunting etc. and horses, especially ponies do sell in the winter - only round xmas time though (I got mine for Christmas and the dealers yard was packed full with horses and people trying them out).

Other option is to put the price up and ask a lot of money for her as sometimes this attracts people more! There is a young mare at my yard who though very talented has done very little and no proof of talent so to speak (never been to any comps etc), anyway owner advertised her for 15k and gots loads of calls!

Contrastingly there was another horse there awhile back who was absolutely lovely, super talented and had been out competing/hunting etc to prove it. Owner needed to sell him quickly so only advertised him for a fairly low price (5k, which is nothing for what he is), they only got one call! Fortunately it was the right person but I'm sure if they'd advertised him for more they would have got lots of people ringing up because when people see a horse advertised for a lot they tend to assume it's a good horse.

So if you really think a lot of her, stick her in H&H (or similar but somewhere people look for performance horses), ask as much as you dare and see what happens. You can always put ONO after the price and people with not so much money can also ring then too. Good luck. :D
