me and friend were meant to be xc schooling on sat. really looking forward to going etc but am now worried about ground

on all the xc fences they have put woodchip on the takeoff and landing spots so this is fine but am worried bout the ground between?

we will prob jump a fence walk to the next etc not galloping from fence to fence.

it will be the last time i can go before exams so do really want to go but dont know what to do

I'd say it depends how used to this kind of ground your horse is (and how used to moving at speed over harder ground). If he has been fittened over harder ground then you would be OK? If he is just used to going in a menage it may be a different story. I would consider whether he has had any recent injuries/or if you have specific concerns about his legs.
Bear in mind if he gets excited (maybe other horses will be coming past you?) you may not be able to just walk.

Having said that if you are schooling you should be able to do as many jumps as you feel happy with so you can call it a day when you feel he's done enough.

If she's used to being ridden at speed on hard surfaces I should think you would be OK.....But only you know your horse and level of fitness so it's your call really.

i would proberbly go if your used to riding on hard ground. my horse is a fine TB and she managed to gallop round a xcountry course on sunday and wasnt even stiff the next morning (but i put "like ice" on as soon as i had untacked her after xcountry to make sure) although i have withdrawn from a hunter trial this weekend.. but im pretty sure you will be ok, just dont over do it!

It might help slightly if you bandage his legs and bath them in cold water after? But it wont prevent it from hurting the horse if it does though.
