As above really. As she is a member of this forum I will wait to see if she is brave enough to owning up to hacking my yearling's mane with the scissors
at least she didn't manage to pull it and pull it all out!! I had a working pupil that managed to pull out and ENTIRE mane on a connie that had a HUGE full mane....he looked like a cancer victim as he quite literally had about 10 hairs left in his whole mane!!!!
looks okay to me, better than pulling it and making the horse fidgety and resentful imho!
(i cut all my horses' manes with scissors and then use tail rake to thin out nicely.)
stunning yearling, how's she bred please?
I've just gone on your site and seen the new pics and it made me laugh out loud to see that you've put a disclaimer on the mane on the website as well!!!!
She is growing into a stunning horse btw....a credit to her dad!
i think you should just be glad Kat didn't spray it pink and put pink glitter gel on her hooves.....Sometimes you have to thnk to yourself, "how much worse could it have been"!
Don't laugh about the pink, I now have about 10 pink feed buckets!! She was going to finish it off with a Solo comb but Diora started to fidget!
This filly doesn't need crimpers she is naturally kinky
On a more serious note she is by Treliver Decanter out of Treliver Diva, you can see them both on my web site which is in my profile.

But I bet it won't be forgotten if you're anything like me! Everytime she goes NEAR a pair of scissors, you'll let out a HUGE shriek and yank them from her hand (even when she just wants to cut a bit of baler twine!)
But a bit of subtle pulling will improve it no end - and what a STUNNING head!! (And neck; and shoulder - don't tease us like that - is her back-end as good??)
bloody lucky really! i remember being told Ted's tail was too long and im sure it was Kat who wanted me to cut 8 inches off but i cant be sure of that!
I always use scissors, the art is, they must be sharp and never close them, I use them a bit like a razor, then snip away with the scissors pointing in an upward direction.
I worked for one breeder who had his grandkids come to stay one summer and they decided one day it was horrible that the broodmares had hair covering their eyes . . . you can see where this is going. Cut off EVERY forelock in the broodmare barn to a length of about 2"!!!! I nearly had a heart attack! Luckily they the young horses wouldn't play hair dresser so we didn't have to take anything out showing with a bowl cut but it did make for some fast talking at the fall open house.
Dont always blame the groom !!... its not always their fault...
....many moons ago I was a groom for a hunting Farmer.
I prided myself on always having his horses gleeming and immaculatly trimmed and turned out.
One day after clipping one of his horses... he came to inspect the handy work and was adamant the diamond at the top of the tail was offset. Like a fool I was not quick thinking enough to stop him when he picked the clippers up switched them on and with wellies 3 inches thick with mud he stepped on the box... slipped straight off running the clipper straight over a beautifully pulled tail !!!
Found out weeks later when he had been going out hunting ...on being asked what happened to the horses tail he replied ..."you just cant get the staff" .... Old git
