sorry to bug you all but just thought I would see your views on this.. I loan a horse and everything has been fine for a good few months.. taught the horse loads.. and yesterday I went to a show with the owner who brought her other horse along, I got on and could tell the horse I loan was going to be an idot as he is very tempermental he flew into a broncho and bolted,, i started walking when he finally stopped and owner was like ' you have to do more than walk with him' I told her that he had been very naughty and had to calm down a bit before I did showjumping she was like 'dont be so stupid' anyway I was not keen on jumping anymore as he was being a loon, got into the arena he jumped half the jumps from standstill, spooked, and then decided it would be fun to bolt around the school. I walked out and retired as I felt that if i continued something bad would happen,, as i walked out owner was shouting at me like 'he was f-ing fine didn't put a foot wrong, why did you give up, your ruining my horse by doing that, what a waste of his life when you can't even get him round a f-ing course' (he is usually good and jumps a lot but she thinks its all down to the horse..pft) It made me feel like sh*t and I was very very upset as she was shouting over everyone this, so I walked off with horse and said that I am getting off and if she thinks she can get him round that course then go ahead (she hasnt jumped in 2 years and is avery nervous rider, has an arab that she doesnt ride-too nervous) she declined saying she didnt feel like riding

so the question is what do I do? I cant let this carry on as I feel worse everyday with owner shouting at me yet I love the horse and without him I don't want to ride any other horses he means everything to me

lots and lots of choc cake and jaffa cakes if you get this far

She has no right to talk to you like that, its ok having a horse on loan but what agreements have you got drawn up. You should be able to get on with your thing if you have him on loan. May i suggest not going to anymore shows with her to start with

Hope the cake and jaffa's help

what a nasty cow. first reaction would be to tell her where to stick her horse.
however, that would be biting your nose off to spite your face.
Is there no way that you could buy him from her?
If not, i think i would have to have a chat with her and tell her how her comments had upset you and explain why you retired etc. Maybe she was just showing off a bit or something.
Hopefully she regrets how she spoke to you and will apologise anyway.
Remember that you are doing her a favour by loaning the horse as much as you are doing her one.

Poor you, what a horrible woman!

I can see you need to be careful as you don't want her to take back her horse, but equally she has to understand that she was out of order.

I think you need to talk to her. Tell her that the horse had been misbehaving before the class and you felt it deteriorating during the round. Tell her that her shouting at you really upset you and ask her how she would feel if it was her riding and someone was shouting abuse at her. Basically you want to try to get her to see it from your point of view. Given that she has b*gger all nerve you MIGHT get her to understand she was out of order

(although personally I would be tempted to say either shut up or take your horse back.... But it could badly backfire so best not!!

Poor you having to be associated with someone who treats you like that. Having a horse and going to shows is supposed to be fun and you should do whatever you think is right for both the horse and yourself.
If I were you I wouldn't go to shows with her anymore so you can be more relaxed and do things your way in your own time.

thanks for advice

at the time i was so shocked I didnt really no how to react and then when I got back to the yard my friend said I should have just slapped her lmao
I am definately not going to another show with her again..

and yes i really want to buy him but she is talking stupid money for a horse that bolts rears spooks bronchos and bucks, yes he has good bloodlines but he also has very very poor conformation so how much would you pay for him?
