Just curious about the wording of an advert I saw:-

"Quality 4 year old brown gelding, 16.1hh approx
Professionally broken and going very nicely
Started jumping poles and showing great technique and attitude
Has white hairs on his legs but affects him in no way"

Can I just ask you more knowledgeable people why white hairs on the legs would be a bad thing??! Is that for showing?! Or does it signify something else that I'm just totally clueless about?

Please enlighten me!

Maybe they are trying to say the horse has had , say , a fall & the hair has grown back white ?

Ditto probably an old injury where white hairs have grown back from scarring etc.

Email and enquire.

They're probably looking at it from a showing view as you'd be penalised for it.

implies scarring on the leg possibly due to an old injury ? This would have an impact if the potential purchaser wanted the horse for showing purposes.

hair can grow back white from bandaging too tightly or from elasticated boots done up too tight so the horse may not have been injured seriously.

An old horse of mine got some white hairs on one front leg after wearing some rather expensive sports medicine elite boots - luckily they went back to chestnut after some time which I thought was strange!
