Sister informed me this morning whilst in a flurry of tears that she doesnt think she is going to carry on with the riding.
She has never been quite as driven as me and doesnt have the same confidence, but she is a decent little rider and competed at National School Champs last year. She has piano and other hobbies but she has always been so into the horsey scene. Im hoping she will come round in the summer time and start riding again, otherwise im not too sure what to do with Monty cob, should I keep him on and compete him? x

My sister was very into horses until about 16, then she turned round and said she didn't enjoy it anymore. She still competes, hunts and goes on fun rides, but apart from that she never rides at home or does anything. If i get her to do anything at home shes very unhappy and we DON'T get on. This way we get on and she enjoys riding occassionally.

The one thing not to do is to try and push her into riding, i made this mistake and we had a period of hating each other.

I would keep Monty if you have the time, etc so she can ride when she wants and might even go back to it.

I would let her settle and not put any pressure on her. Keep the horse for the time being, as its not a light decision and if you can carry on with him, well thats great.

If you can afford the money and time maybe you could keep him on for a bit to see if
Your wee sister will miss riding after a break??
Good luckx

God, WHY was I a little dissapointed that you didnt just anounce that you were going to selll your coloured?!!!!

In all seriouseness, I wouldn't worry. I would say - yes fine, keep her cob, let her get on with her 'non horsey' phase, and see how much she misses it. I give her until the summer.....
