Hi, any advice would be great. I have just sold my mare to a lovely lady and she is picking her up next weekend. Only problem I can see is that I haven't changed the details of ownership on the passport. I was moving shortly after I bought her so packed it away to be done from new address but just forgot all about it. I only realised when I hunted it out when she was sold. Do you think that this will be a problem for the lady that is buying her, and is it still legal for me to sell her without my name being registered owner. I have proof of my buying her. Really don't want it to go wrong, the lady seems perfect for my horse. really worried now that it will all go wrong.

I bought a horse from a good friend who could not even find the passport. She also knew that she had never registered the horse in her name. I wrote to the passport issuing authority, who were quite happy to issue a duplicate in my name (with the proof of purchase & a large cheque!!)
Probably best to give your passport authority a quick ring & check the details - as they all have different requirements.

When I got J the previous owners name wasn't on it as she never got round to do it

When I put my name on we got her name address and number and had to tell passport people if I remember rightly and that was fine

When I bought mine there was no previous owners on there at all!! Sent passport to KWPN and everything was fine!! Dont worry! Hope your mare is happy in her new home!

thank you, just petrified something will go wrong, new owner seems lovely, I can keep in touch and visit. I have telephoned Pleasure Horse Society and its fine. I should have changed it within 30 days but new owner can just change her straight to her name.
