Some of you may remember the sagas I've been having with Hugo? Well, I've had this week off for half term and been up to the yard every day. I have had a lesson almost every day and spent lots of time with him - either just grooming, talking to him, chatting with the farrier while he had his shoes done etc etc, and I must say we have got along like a house on fire!
Each lesson was better than the last and yesterday I watched him in a fast lesson with a very experienced (male) rider. He was so good, it gave me even more confidence in my lesson shortly after.
Now my problem is this - I am back to school now and can only come at the weekends for the next 5 weeks (then 3 weeks off - yay!). Do you think we are in danger of taking a step back, or will I be able to still build on where we are if I am going up just twice (maybe only once some weekends) on a weekend? He will be ridden a bit in the week - by good riders.
I feel SOOOO much more confident on him and everyone agrees we have made real progress this week, so I'd hate for it to fizzle out. (not brave enough to go out yet - target is to work up to it over the Easter hols - although I did say to the guy who rode him to take him out if he would like!!
)
Any other 'weekend' owners?! What do you think?
Ooops, sorry - just realised it's another 'long and ramblin'!! Chocolate digestive and cup of tea if you've got to here!
