My afternoon consisted of:-

taking my lunch up to field and eating it while watching the horses graze
filling water buckets
poo picking
grooming the naughty pony and the huge beast
going out for a nice hack
feeding the twosome
eating cream cakes while talking about horses
watching my friends daughter in law have a lesson

AND them home to a nice hot bath and chicken and pasta bake

BLISS :D
 
But especially Winter ones;-))

Mucking out and putting down a really good deep warm bed
Curry combing all the mud and grot off the beast
Riding in the stinging cold till you are pink of cheek and tingly of thigh
Untacking horse and rugging up in nice warm stable duvet
leaving him with a warm bowl of slobber mix and huge hay pile
walking into the bunkhouse pouring a hot coffee lighting a cigarette and chatting horses for a couple of hours
Driving home at dusk
getting into a hot radox bath
wrapping up in my favorite fleece dressing gown which has been warming over the hot towel rail
sitting on the sofa with a bowl of homemade soup and something suitably non thought provoking on the DVD

I did the afternoon until dark thing this evening.

Played with horses, took toffee for a bareback wonder about the farm, didn't fall off, wore hat :D

Then had a grooming session with Samba and we can now see Australia from the hole she dug, any tips greatly appreciated. But damn she looks good sparkling clean :D

Rode the most amazing three year old ever and now pestering boyfriend to buy him(horse drives boyfriend drives) horse just happens to be fantastic...

Sorted out my fencing

Cleaned trough

Cleaned grooming kit

bought the wood for new stable door.

Took rugs to the cleaners

Watched the sun set with Toffee and went home :D to a takeaway

AND IM STILL IN MY JODS and some how have hay in my socks, havent given them hay today?????

I managed to tip a load of water into my wellie when doing buckets so I spent all afternoon with a nice wet foot :rolleyes:
 
Ahh I remember these when I had a regular horse to have them with!

Riding bike to the yard absolutley freezing
Mucking out and making the straw really thick and fluffy and lovely
Hardly being able to tack up because your hands are so freezing cold and you cant do it wearing gloves!
Riding out through frosty fields, slowly turning into an ice cube and wondering just how cold it has to be before toes start falling off
Rugging up and sitting in the stable watching them eat their hay - no better way to warm up at the yard in the winter I swear!
Having a cup of tea in the tack room and chatting horses for a while,
Getting home, having a warm bath, thick PJ's and slippers and Eastenders.

Oh those are they days! :)
 
I have just had a really nice day at my yard, no one about at all, it made me feel as if it was my own place. Done poo picking, groomed both horses, ridden one, put rubber matting back down after clearing out floor.

Dont mind any horsey work, but when it comes to housework
forget it !
