My friend works in a local saddler's. When I asked her if it was busy in the build up to Christmas she told me that it would be dead if not for the number of people who are coming in to replace everything from saddles to grooming kits that have been stolen.
In the last three weeks she knows of 8 yards/garages and private homes that have lost tack and feed. The thieves are taking everything expect used or dirty rugs and are clearing out tack rooms. The police have told her there are two gangs operating around here. They are working at all hours including the middle of the day.
She has had customers from yards in Verwood, Three Legged Cross, Fordinbridge, Ibsley and surrounding areas in the last few weeks so please be very careful.
Our YO has fitted sensor alarms into our tack rooms which he got free of charge from the police. It might be good idea for others to do the same.
