I finally qualify this weekend (if all goes accordng to plan and i pass my exams!) in McTimoney - Corley spinal therapy. I am planning to work from the word go (and already have a few clients lined up - yey!)....

But my question is, what is it that makes you have your chiropractor/physio/osteopath (or any therapist really) back to your horse? I have heard some peole say that they weren't very impressed with certain practitioners, or that they highly recommend others.

What are your Do's and dont's? As i will soon be going out into the big wide world, any advice would be very helpful!!

My McTimoney lady is fab. She's very quiet with the horses and very thorough. She has an extensive checklist that she works through before she even touches your horse (even on repeat visits).

I think the best thing you can do is be courteous to people - I know it sounds old fashioned but I *hate* being made to feel that I'm doing people a favour by hiring them!

Good luck!

I think be honest and never be worried to tell people if there is something seriously wrong!!! I know I prefer honesty I know my horse is completley broken, but I try to manage it the best I can!! Well done I think your near me so I may have to give you a call!!

The main reason I have my McTimoney lady back again and again is that I see results from what she does. Also she's very good with the horse, keeps very detailed records, is honest and reliable.

I had a lady out once to look at my mare and she was scared to death of her - she wouldn't pick her feet up or anything! Tango is a sweetie as well - just a typical TB! Needless to say she wasn't invited back! Another lady was very abrupt almost to the point of being rude - she wasn't asked back either.

Also, make sure you always advise that the client gets the vet to ok the treatment. I know someone who didn't do this and carried on treating the horse - it turned out to have a fracture in it's spine and had to be pts

The lady got such a bad rep from it that she left the area altogether and gave up working with horses (so I've heard).

Good luck
