Hey everyone, so I'm really interested in purchasing a double bridle for showing and dressage. I was wondering if anyone could explain the whole bit thing and basically tell me how the whole thing works?! Thanks :) I'm currently learning how to ride with two reins before I try a proper double bridle! ;)

Why don't you take a few lessons on a schoolmaster horse who already goes well in a double, that way your instructor (and the horse) can show you how the thing works. There is quite a lot of complicated theory that goes with the two bits and their separate actions; it's not a case of "stick it on and we'll figure it out". A double also has to be properly fitted, again a job for someone who knows what it's all about.

That's a great idea! I did have an experienced person in fitting double bridles for showing helpings me, but I think it would be a great idea to learn how to ride in a double before riding my horse in it! Thank you! :)
