Does anyone ride in a double for Show Jumping ?

I know its illegal to not ride in a cavesson for dressage but what about jumping does it matter ~??

I ride my chestnut in my siggy in a double bridle. Always have and his previous rider (BSJA coach) did aswell.

That's not strictly true - you can dressage in a snaffle with a drop noseband if you so desire!

SJ - if you can get it in the horse's mouth or on its head you can jump in it seems to be the general rule.....

I know what you mean and plenty of top open WH people use doubles with a flash so I can't see a problem. However PLEASE don't go down the route that I once saw BSJA... a double with roundings

I think because it takes a bridle that can be used with finesse and refinement using an independent amount of contact and pressure on two different bits and turns it into a sort of a half-way house fudge. There's no way to use the different mouthpieces separately with roundings so you end up putting pressure on both mouthpieces at once which must be a fairly muddled signal for the horse. If you want roundings at least use them on a single mouthpiece bit like a pelham

*standard Gamebird disclaimer - the above is my opinion. EVeryone else is entitled to theirs!*

I always used to SJ in a double, it's allowed and effective and a good solution if you can use the reins separately.
