Please could you check the fit of this show pelham, cob is normally a 5.25 in a snaffle (loose ring) since i could only get a pelham in a 5 and 5.5 i got both to try. The 5.5 seemed too big and she actually got her tongue over the bit a few times within 5 mins, it definitely wasn't right and she really fussed. The 5 looks a better fit, not sure if it looks a bit too snug though, i can fit a small finger from the side of her bit to her lips. I rode in it a few times and there is no evidence of pinching or rubbing. She is very settled in her mouth and foams up nicely, goes nicely and i know from the way she is going that it is comfortable. (she lets me know when shes not)
She has bit fat fleshy lips that do wrinkle alot so it looks as though bit is high but its not, any lower and it would bang her in the teeth!
The curb is fitted loosley and when the curb rein is used (rare as i don't tend to use atall) i can still fit one finger under it comfortably. There seems to be a fair bit of curb chain hanging at the side, looks a bit untidy - the tightest of the 3 rings is not tight enough as tested when the curb rein is used, its too loose so have used the 2nd one away from that one (if that makes sense?) also i have a leather lip strap that i need to attach.

Thanks

I would be happy with that, she has as you say, very fleshy lips and they wrinkle more than some, when they have that type of mouth it can look a bit tight but there seems to be enough room and less movement will be less likely to cause rubs.
You should really use a sliphead with the show pelham to keep the loose rings stable and in the correct place, I would get the extra links removed from the curb chain to make it tidier, otherwise just link the extra onto the hook to keep them out of the way.

I would say it needs to be wider too - I tried a double on my mare with a 5.5" Weymouth which appeared to fit, but it rubbed a hole in her lip :( We just thought she was reacting to the new sensation of double bits when she was being fussy & backing off a bit but no.

We put her in a 5.75" Weymouth & 6" bradoon she goes as perfectly as she ever does.
