Now, because I have quite short legs and in the past at riding schools have been put on big horses whose saddles have long stirrup leathers (sometimes the leathers were so long on the shortest hole that my foot couldn't even reach the stirrups!), so the leathers were often looped through the top of the stirrups several times.
I just wanted to know if this would cause any more stress on the leathers or make them more susceptible to damage or something. Any opinions?

Yeah we do this for the really little kids who come up to ride, many of the ponies strirrups get this evry week and they seem ok (more holes are punched but these are 5 year olds were talking about)

I doubt it would cause a problem, not unless you were riding for hours and hours for them like that, because if you do that they do get a crease/kink thing in them but thats only after like 3 plus hours riding with twisted stirrups
