double manes..

My double maned one is only a yearling so currently I just look at its amazing corkscrew effect springing freely on both sides and wonder how the heck I'm going to calm it down enough to plait it and whether hogging is an option:(

Yes mine is doubled maned. He is a native cross breed so it suits him. His parting down is neck is sorted so its clean parting and then both sides are brushed regulary to teach the hair to fall on the right side. He is also plaited every now and then to make the mane stay on the right sides. Its very easy to manage provided you keep up with management for a while and then it generally stays on the right side after a while.

I once saw a comp horse all very beautifully plaited with a matching row on each side!! looked good as the plaits were tight and even on both sides... much nicer than tennis ball sized on one side.

my Curly 2 YO has a double mane (it is in the breed standard!) and it looks like dreadlocks. Now you have made me wonder what I might have to do to it if we show him!
