What a shame, but shes obviuosly retiring him for all the right reasons.

I read the H&H website, and thought the same, its nice that someone so young respects her horse more than to keep pushing him for more wins.

He is such a stunning horse. So much presence and power, but with a gentleness as well. Far better to retire him now and let him enjoy life than push him further if he's not really wanting to do it. Pity Laura doesn't have a younger brother/sister waiting in the wings.......I imagine that he would make a fabulous schoolmaster for a younger rider.

Fingers crossed that Alf (Mistral Hjoris) is ok in time for the Olympics.....

What a lucky horse to have such considerate owners. Will miss seeing Douglas in the ring as he does hav such presence but far better he is retired than pushed. 8 years of Grand Prix is a good stretch.
