My friends friend has recently bought this fab dressage horse he has over 280 BD points:eek: she competes as prelim/ novice.

She is up for assessment with Richard Davidson shortly and has been told by her instructor to ride like a numpty wrong canter lead , the wrong diagonal etc.

Realistically how many points would they reduce this by, and will the assessor really be fooled in to this type of riding.

Do they assess the horse, rider, or is it a mix between the two.

I wouldn't fancy competing along side this horse in a prelim test:p

No they won't be fooled by numpty riding, and I think they can get on if they want to.

Has the horse actually won that many points or was it given them because ti was imported?

My sisters horse I think was given 160 points due to being imported, he was assesed and ended up with Nil Points - same as UK in the eurovision.

Only horses given points on import can be downgraded by assesment(rule 18), otherwise they can be downgraded by the riders group(rule 16) but this does not need an assesment. My undestanding of the downgrading on import rule is that it only applies on initial import but I may be mistaken. Interesting 7 year olds get 260 points nad 8 years old 400, so if your freinds horse has over 280 it sound like it may have competed in this country since import?

The assessor has the right to put another rider on and will not be fooled by numpty riding. I had a project horse assessed. He had been imported and as a five year old had been given 45 points. He couldn't walk in a straight line let alone anything else. Paul Hayler assessed him (with my daughter on board). It was a highly professional session and the horse had his points assessed as zero. A lot of hard work later the horse now has 30 points he has gained on merit.
