Ok everyone now we know how to spell it give me some Ammo to use with my YO to persuade him that a Belgian will not have the entirety of his yard demolished in days :))

I remain convinced that there are some out there who do not act like Equine wrecking balls lol

Really hope your YO sees sense for you as your horse shouldn't really cause a problem but if he is worried about his fences put a strand of electric fence inside. By the bye Draught means load so draught horses pull loads. Boats have a draught, it's what load they can carry. Sorry to have teased, have a great time when you get your new horse.

I had an Irish Draught, was told only Americans used the spelling 'draft'.

 I spell it Draft, but then I also spell tyre tire so........

Elwyn Hartley Edwards spells it Draught (The Ultimate Horse Book) and who am I to argue with him, except that I live in NA and it is a case of 'When in Rome' I also blanket my horses, use halters, call bandages wraps and all foals 'colts' ;)

Hotwire will be his friend :D

I have a half Belgian here and he has every inch of his paddock, including the gates, wired as he insists on standing on the bottom rail and putting all his weight on it, he trashed two gates before I got fed up and dummy wired his gate. To be fair, I think that is more just his personality than his ancestry though.

I'd be more concerned, as a YO, about the state underfoot after a lot of rain :( I had a Belgian x mammoth jack mule here once, massive animal, his paddock looked like Salisbury Plain after a particularly wet play day for the tanks
