Drea McCann/ ID/ Passport probs

Anyone heard of this stallion? He is on our geldings mum mare`s covering certificate from the Denstead Stud in Kent and is supposed to be related to the Irish Draught "Cruising". Our passport authority will not put our geldings parents on as the stud covering certificate is not enough- it has to come from the breed society

any ideas welcomed!

It sounds as if Dream Mcann is probably not an approved stallion with the society that you wish to register the foal so he is being placed in the foundation register without breeding.

Contact the stud that issued the covering certifcate and ask if his sire is approved with one of the Irish registries? If he isn't then ask if he is approved with another studbook. If neither applies contact the passport officer Jackie, at the Scottish Sports Horse.

Your gelding can be registered with breeding if your passport application is accompanied with your covering certifcate.

If you send DNA (Hair Samples) from the gelding and the mare (optional) and it matches the DNA profile of the mare and sire with the National Animal Trust then your gelding will be registered in the foundation register with "vefified" breeding and be issued with a full breed society passport. If no DNA is sent then his Breed Society Passport willidentify how his breeding has been identified. e.g covering certificate, DNA etc..

If the stallion Dream McCann is approved with the ISH registry or another studbook recognised by the SSH then he will be placed into the main foal book on the provision that the mare has a three generation pedigree and both her sire and her dams sire are approved and recognised by the SSH.

If the latter is not the case then he will be placed into the foundation foal registry, but at least you will have a full breed society passport outiling the pedigree information that is known.
