Currently browsing for a new pony for my son and I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of basic side on photos. So many ads full of dreadful blurry photos of jumping taken from angles that just make the poor animals look deformed. I'm getting bored looking now.

I have been finding this too. So many pics of ponies jumping in the distance and so few of them close up at an angle where you can see them. It does make the process take longer because you have to ask for another photo.

When someone is selling a pony/horse they don't seem to put themselves in the buyers position & realise what a buyer would want to see. They need to take particular photos to show off the animal to its best advantage. Cute pics out of the family album are of little use. These sellers then wonder why they haven't had any calls after the pony? :(

It's crazy isn't it. I looked out of curiosity the other day at an ad to the right of the page advertising a top class dressage horse for £26K - with just a side on picture. Even in the ad there were no more pictures - nothing to make the horse look like it was worth £26k...

Just seen one of the back of the horses head taken by the rider. Why would a prospective buyer want to see that? :P

So you know what it's like to ride ;)

There has been a horse advertised on Facebook now for absolutely ages and I'm convinced it's not getting any interest due to the awful awful photos. Jumps 3 m+ but the photo is a blurry mess of it screwing up a x pole.... Why?!

I love the bad photos, the POAs, the "no time wasters", "reluctant sale", etc. as it tells me I might get a bargain.

One of the best mares I have here was a bargain photographed standing diagonally through a gate. I knew nobody would go and see her so I did. She was/is a smasher and I managed to negotiate a decent price because of the lack of response. She has bred me some excellent foals since.

Sometimes you need to read between the lines. The very polished advertisement is usually posted by an experienced seller.
