I know i have enough horses already, infact looking to sell some now im pregnant. I would love to get a clydesdale foal, preferably a filly so it could be a broodmare.

Its only a dream that I would love to be reality some day.

I love the big clydesdale/shires. YO was cleaning out his double garage yesterday, asked him if it was for my new dream horse lol.

Ones are saying to me that its unfair to keep a horse of this breed as a broodmare as they are working animals. Is this right?

The idea is now getting too tempting, found a breeder that is near the yard lol. Im definitely not getting one asap, its just my dream horse, though Mae would still be my number one!!

When I was young I loved clydesdale and shires and wanted one! But now, I'd love a spanish horse, white with a flowing mane........ah to dream

But I'm very happy with my ID

Im happy with Mae shes my pride and joy. I just love the big heavy gaints, used to ride a clydesdale x when learning to ride.

I want a shire, always have! The horse i had lessons on when i was 9 was a shire cross and i rode some in wales, met a man that worked at the shire horse centre in pembroke and ended up going to ride his down the beach!! They are such amazing creatures! My dad wants a shire foal too, but he wants it stay a foal! I would love to just go and buy one but it's feeding them!

Our new girl is a Shire x but sadly we'd only had her two weeks when she fell in the field and there's only a 60% chance she'll ever come back into work.

She is a real poppet though, loves her cuddles, is very easy to deal with but oh my goodness the mountains of poo!

I think that is rubbish, so people shouldn't own a border collie if the don't own a flock of sheep? If what that person is saying is right then the breed would die out as, let's face it, there are very few horse pulling carts etc now. Additionally, following that logic, all ex race horses should be pts as they aren't being used for what they were bred for

... doesn't really hold water that idea ....does it?

I agree, i have a Highland - she is never likely to carry a stag out of the highlands but seems quite happy doing normal horsey things.
Our native breeds have to carry on producing quality pure bred stock or they will die out.

Ahh, now my dream horse is a 15.2 anglo or pba, that looks pretty araby but not excessively so. Needs to be a really decent allrounder, capable of SJ/XC up to about 3'6/3'9, and an elementary dressage test! So not asking for much eh? Preferably black (I know, they aren't really black, just very dark brown!) with a white star/stripe, failing that a bright bay!

If i got one i would take it to a few in hand shows. I just think they are beautiful animals.

Hmmm maybe i should wait and see what santa brings lol

Nah, I just described MY horse, 2 inches bigger and a black instead of bay! Yours isn't an anglo arab s he?!?!?
ETS I nearly have my dream horse, except I'd like him to be a mare and a tiny biy bigger, an anglo/pba instead of purebred maybe.

my dream horse would be putting my fantastic natured grey TB mare to a grey/silver dun Highland stallion.... hopefully will do it in a few years....

Scarlett, I have done it the other way around - my highland mare has gone away to something a little finer and more hot blooded to hopefully make my dream horse
