hiya,

I had a really nice dream last night that my mare was in foal and that when it was born it was coloured with the most beautiful markings youve ever seen!

Anyway I have been thinking about breeding her within the next few years or so, so if I breed her with a coloured stallion and she is dark bay what are the odds Id get a coloured foal?

Either 50% or 100%, depending on which stallion you use. Ignore any stallion advertisments which imply that their horse throws 80% colour or somesuch - either ALL of his foals will be coloured, or there will be a 50% chance of colour each time.

Of course he may have had a total of 80% of his stock that have been born coloured, but there is still only a 50% likelihood of your foal being coloured.

Homozygous Tobiano is what you're looking for to guarantee you the colour.
