Dress code- Cheltenham races in this weather??!

I have literally no idea!
I've firstly never actually been to Cheltenham races and secondly only been racing in summer which is easy!
Was half planning on my leather country type boots.... Until a certain little lab chewed a hole in them
Wellies and a yard coat?
 
When I went to Cheltenham it was quite smart but there were 2 distinct camps. The women who, while they looked fantastic, were dressed for a night club (and had the mottled cold skin to prove it) and those of us who were more sensible. I wore flat boots, a smart coat and hat and that seemed to be in keeping with what most wore. I also wore thick tights and a woollen dress and scarf but as an outdoor person, had a good idea of what to expect!
 
I've been several times in January and it can be freezing! I wear warm skinny trousers tucked into boots, a warm coat and a fur hat with a fur scarf. If it's really cold I'll also wear a thermal vest and thick tights under my trousers. However, if you intend to stand in the champagne bar and drink all day you'll cook as it gets packed! Have a great time and wear a lovely smile and no-one will notice what you are wearing!
 
I would wear smart, clean country boots with jeans or cord type jods and a shirt/fleece/jumper and a coat over the top, ideally warm and waterproof, topped off with my furry headband to keep my ears warm. Im not a dressing up person and when I go racing I go to watch the racing, not admire the fashions. I think as long as you are clean, tidy and smart/casual then you'll be fine. Comfy, warm boots are a must though :)
 
Fidgety- sounds good! I assume he's terrier and my heart lies with terriers. I'd also still try and wear boots with no insides in desperate times!! Mine have a tennis ball size hole right through in the calf 🙄
 
Hi How naughty, I'd be very cross! I was going to suggest just wearing thick socks but not possible with a hold that size!

What is it with labs and country boots? Mine chewed around the top of both boots!!
Last time I went NH racing I went with long flat black boots, skinny black trousers, tweed cape with a fur stole. Warm, smart and comfortable should be the order of the day!

Unless you are in the "dress for a nightclub" brigade I saw at the Gold Cup... Honestly, I felt so very very middle aged as all I could think of was "they must be freezing!"...
