I've very lucky in that I've just had a 20x60 arena built and finished yesterday (just need some rain to bed it in!)

I have got letters for a 20x60 set out however I also have a different set of letters for a 20x40.

My question is: where would you put the 20x40 markers ? I.e do you centre it and keep E and B in the same place or do I move it up the arena so the common letter is C ?! decisions decisions !

I would move it up so C is the only common letter, then if you want to ride a 20x40 test all you have to do is put out a couple of poles to mark A

I think this would be much less hassle every time you wanted to practice a 20x40 test, otherwise you'd have to 'pole off' two ends rather than one.

Keep one end common so you only have to put poles across one end to shorten the arena. My instructor has her letters attached to the fence with bailer twine and then she can flip them round to hide one set of letters or the other which is quite good.

Yep I agree, one end common so you only have to put poles at one end - and maybe some sort of markers on the fence showing where the poles should go, that way people can practice even without putting down poles. You could have the markers different colours for 20x60 and 20x40 so that they can both be permanent and people can hopefully tell them apart.

Thanks everyone 😀 my initial thought was to keep it at C end but just thought would see what everyone else would do !

Good thought about some sort of marker on the fence to show the A line, will have a look on eBay for something suitable and visible 😀
