Well went to do Day BeforeDressage at Oberton today, Goddy was so relaxed was unbelievable, and warmed up nicely and did a nice enough test other than halting like a wonkey quarter horse! But generally his canter was lovely (for him!) and his trot was very rhythmical...was a bit disappointed with score.... BUT have got on video, so if anyone would care to look and give CC, idea on score, would be welcome

I threw a mark or two away on the canter-trot transitions as they were before X, but otherwise thought wasnt bad...test was Pre Nov 112, so thoughts very much appreciated

Sorry the first centre line ws missed, but was assured was very straight!!!

I'd say 36 ish but i never know! Did the course look nice? I'm beign a bad owner and not getting their in time to watch Millie tomorrow but she's so early and i'm just off to a 21st now!! We're not expecting great things tomorrow as she's been having teenage tantrums this week!! My boy on the otherhand hasn't done any schooling so is in for a shock (and prob lack of brakes!!) Good luck tomorrow!

He looks to be just slipping up above the bit quite often and there's some loss of balance through the turns. I'd guess about 40?

He basically looks a bit 'bright' and not totally focused!!!

Thanks, yeah thats what i thought, will reveal score tomorrow! Mille will be fine, the XC is very straight forward, the SJing is meaty though!! They had to lower it because of complaints, and it was still bang upto height!!

Ok, judge was a bit kinda than you Boss

Know what you mean though, just watched a couple before me who did not particularly nice tests, and got better marks, but apparently the judge likes very long "low" horses.... was a better test than one I got a low 30 mark for!!

I'd guess at about the 40 mark - he was a bit hurried and not consistent in the contact - he looked like his balance on the turns wasn't perfect. Plus you need to put a loop in the reins for give and retake (so I've been told) not just lift your hands - not a great camera angle so I may have mis-seen that!

I would not worry about the score - it must be ages since you were out on grass? I got something ridiculous like 45 or 46 for my first event last year as B was beside himself with excitement!!

OOps - kinder than me too then! Sorry!

Thanks, he felt so dead I prob did rush him a bit. He is so rhythmical it is easy to do! Last test full stop was last October...

There was a clear loop in the reins, I practised it is the warm up and he was lovely, in the test he decided he wanted to trot on a free rein too, so took the rein forward which didnt help!! The mark was sub 40's, so i'll settle down and not whinge

Anything from a 38 - 44 knowing the consistency at BE :w: I would say more 40-42 personally.

He shows promise but a bit too 'onward bound' and wobbly through his turns and in maintaining his rhythm.

CC would be keep working along the same lines as he is coming along in the right direction, and remember that corners are your friend

Id say about 40. He has super paces and is very like my coloured boy with his action.

Just watch when you do the downward transitions he doesnt draw back towards you with his head/neck but moves forward into the change, this will help to make it look smoother. He was just popping up above the vertical in some of the movements which was prob due to a loss of balance. His canter looked a little tense and therefore slightly hurried. It looked a bit breezy as well which I am sure didnt help.

He is really lovely - tell me more about him.

I think it was 38.5. He's a bit naughty through his transitions and tends to hollow a little, I bet you see that comment on your test sheet
tongue.gif
It looked a little hurried BUT I think you can forgive him as it's his first outing on the grass.
Other than that, there is a lot to like

Thnak you

His trot has always been his stronger pace, his canter has always been a struggle as he covers alot fo ground, so finds it difficult to balance in a 20x40! We have been working on transitions alot, but he is just 6, and has only just started getting strong enough to maintain an outline through transitions, being irish he still has alot of time to mature!
tongue.gif
we are working on shortening and balancing it at home. As said, it was his first dressage since October, so pleased he was as rideable as he was

Whatare your boys details?! I havent a clue about Goddy's bredding etc, except there is a large dose of bog pony in there somewhere
tongue.gif

Hahahaha Bog pony!!!!

My boy is officially half bog pony ... to be precise his mum was an irish cob rescued from the bogs and his dad is Pouchka II a Selle Francais showjumper. Ive had him from about 6 weeks old.

Gen does stressage and like your boy his trot is his best pace and it has taken a while to get the canter really up and balanced and still moving forward. Gen is 7 now and really only just getting strong enough to hold it all together - you are right they do seem to mature a little slower.

Still plenty of time and better not to over-push it.

I think Goddy is def a star in the making.

Thank you

I adore him as he is such a nie horse to have around when he isnt being damn right naughty!! But he gets a little stressed about life, so have to keep everything softly softly. I may not love him as much tomorrow if he takes exception to the Sjing!!
tongue.gif
I envy you having had Gen since a 6mnth old, and sounds like he is a really nice chap with that breeding
smile.gif
wish i knew G's history, but never mind!!
smile.gif

I would have given 40 as he is fairly unbalanced at times, and you could I think have gained some marks by going deeper into your corners, it's easy to lose marks by not being accurate enough. The head throwing on canter transition is something C managed to stop Chocolate doing, as he always got marked down for it!
If you got under 40 I would keep quiet..We've had some very iffy marking on occasions, but it was right across the board with other riders all getting crap marks that arena too. It was annoying however to suddenly drop 6 to 8 marks to the usual mark, then return the following week to the normal scores..
I love the horse however, he looks enthusiastic and great fun to ride..

Fair enough, was just in comparison to others, my "party" think G was marked a bit harshly, but can see where we did loose marks
smile.gif
I would neevr kick up a fss or comment to the judge, they are more knowledgable than me!
smile.gif
The canter transitions are improving, as he gets stronger
smile.gif
But thanks, he is a sweety, and I nearly always enjoy riding him
smile.gif

Must be the breeding - Gen is a lovely person too but such a terrible stress head. Softly Softly ALL the way.

Good luck tomorrow - look forward to following your progress.

Having just done the same test (albeit with a different judge) and got 39.5, I think my judge was being very generous as Godders test looked far better than mine

What did you get for the FW?

I was going to say free walk looked really good!!

Looking at your test I'm surprised I even got 44.8!! I must have had a nicer judge.
