Just joined BD with one of my horses and am looking for some advice as to venues in and around Sussex, schedules, and what to aim to qualify for etc. Would alos be nice to see a friendly face at some of these venues. Please PM me if you would prefer to email me for a chat

Hickstead do regular affliated and unaffliated competitions, not sure how far you are from them.

Im competing there on 16th, only unaffiliated tho as my trainer wants to see Archie in action and i couldnt make any of the affliated dates!

Also when you get your first BD mag through that will have all the dates/venues in it.

You can go on the BD website and do a search for venues in your area aswell.

I didnt realise hickstead holds competitions for dressage - do you have to qualifiy ??

this is from me being a show jumper and only going twice a year !!

There are area festivals which you could aim to qualify for. For these you need 2 test sheets at the same level at 60% or above. Then there are the regionals, to qualify for these you need 2 wins at 65% and above for novice restriced of which one must be a qualifying class. Not sure what it is for prelim level

you send the two original test sheets off with your entry to the petplan area festival that you decide to do - entry rules are the same as for normal competitions. You will find the petplan area festival comps in a yellow box in your BD mag. There is also a list of them on the BD website.

look at belmoredean they are purely dressage. they are between cowfold and billingshurst. they run a really goood aff & unaff show regularly

Golden Cross, Oldencraig, Brinsbury College hosts BD comps (Pulborough), Ardingly do I think (or is that just for area stuff?)
