Would like to know if there are rules to what kind of music you can use for dressage to music. Have never tried it before and would love to next year but unsure really of any stipulations!?
Dressage divas! Can you use any type of music to perform to?

It is a little complicated because you have to know if the music is on the PPL list and I think you get a list from BD .I don't think you can mix music on the list and music off but most will be on it.They don't seem to like too many vocals but they are allowed.
We videoed our horse doing his test and then sent it away and received back music that fitted[ we said what type of music we liked]
Use three pieces of music and mix them. There is a big variety of music that people choose ,good luck.

You could watch some freestyle competitions to get a feel for the type of music people use. BD produce a guide to dresssage to music which is helpful.

Hi! This Saturday we are at Wokingham EC, then in the next few weeks we will be at MKEC before moving to Scotland for 2-3 days in Edinburgh and The Borders. From May we begin a Roadshow and have ten dates around the UK...

How far have you got? We can help with a remote service as well but you need to be able to send us video - read about us in Horse Magazine- we did the Project X feature and we will try and help if we can! Could you get to Wokingham on Saturday? I'm sure we could find a space! Alison

OK. I can send you a vid, next week sometime. I have thought about it and that is as far as I have got.
So do you want me to devise a floorplan, ride it and send to you? I would love to come to Wokingham, but I am already competing. I didn't realise that BD had a list of music that you could use, it gets more confusing to me

I don't think the music you were thinking of using would be on BD's list !!

The list is to do with PPL license. How it works is that BD pays a fee so its members can use music in freestyle competitions where the artists are registered with PPL. Of course there are artists that are not registered with PPL. The thing to remember is not to mix routines that contain PPL and Non PPL music this is against regs!!
We can work from a video of your floorplan to match music you will need to complete our registration forms and a music feedback form to help us detemine your musical tastes.
If you get really stuck we can do the floorplan too!
