The hunter's going dressaging next week :D (he's gonna be so chuffed off to be pulled and plaited to perfection then discover it's not a meet, no jumps even, mother have you lost it? :)). Just a walk and trot test, as (I think) he goes really nicely but we don't have a reliable left canter strikeoff so can't do anything more really. I am going to wear tweed as I understand that's correct for such a class, but I need to know a) is my autumn hunting gear ok (as in, tweed jacked, shirt with collar and tie, brown chaps and boots) and b) can I wear spurs and carry a long stick?

I also understand that I should/can plait, as with tweed hunting-wise this is not correct but for a baby dressage class this is ok.

Thankies in advance for any advice xxx

SOunds OK except for maybe the chaps... you are allowed gaiters under BD rules but not 1/2 chaps... (If it's not under BD rules then you'll have to check with the organisers.)

I've never done a walk trot test so I'm not sure about the whip and spurs but you're allowed them at every other level.

I'm certainly no dressage diva, but I do well at unaffiliated level. I only do dressage in a black show jacket, but I don't think that for a walk and trot test it will really matter, and as long as it's unaffiliated, it doesn't really matter whether you plait or not. I never plait my gelding, but I will plait my mare (don't know why, but he looks horrible plaited and she looks gorgeous plaited) when she starts doing dressage. I wouldn't really worry too much about it, just go and enjoy it!

Yep it's unaffil but under BD rules, they are actually gaiters...is this best or black boots? For hunting the former is correct, am all a bit confused about tweed being ok, but what goes with it.

Holly hocks I do have a black show jacket, I have two I use for SJ but I thought that for W&T tweed was correct?:)

I've never heard that for W and T tweed is more correct, but then I just wear black as a rule - I don't even have a tweed jacket. I really wouldn't worry about it - just wear what you are comfortable in.

You can wear any colour for w+t but most commonly black or blue is worn. gaiters and boots are fine, spurs are fine aslong as they arent over a certain length same goes for whip unless the organiser says otherwise.
