dressage girths....

Sick of the keepers falling off Dan's dressage girth - they aren't attached and I keep finding them in random places rather than on the girth!

So, need a new, 24", black dressage girth. Preferably leather, elastic on both sides/in middle supposed to be better? Nice and comfortable as he's a sensitive bunny and currently keeps getting bitten in the creases by his elbows so shaped is probably good too.

Sooo...
recommedations???

Will probably buy 2nd hand (ebay!) so not too fussed about price, it's not urgent so I'm happy to sit and look for bargains

frank baines make nice dressage girths - I have one it lovely soft calfskin and has humane fittings. about £110 new though, Shame you want 24" - i have 26" and doesnt fit new horse !!

Amerigo fits the bill though if you're looking for something that you don't need to remortgage for I would also say Frank Baines though I prefer the normal version as the humane type girthing system can easily lead to over tightening (plus it's only £50)

I love my thorowgood airflow dressage girth - it's shaped so it's comfortable for the horse, cheap, machine washable and yet it looks really nice too!

Yep, have been keeping my eye open for amerigos for a while though only thought to look at what size I needed yesterday Silly me

kezimac - the frank baines girths look lovely, I can get him to breathe out if you like!? He'd take a slightly longer one but they start to look a bit silly when they reach the bottom of the saddle

physics_student - I actually have a thorowgood one, so I know they're nice Although the one I have would probably go around Danny twice....

Thanks everyone so far, keeping my eye on ebay and going for a quick look around local saddlery this week I think (saw some LOVELY ones in there months ago but didn't think to pay attention to brands!) to see what I might find

I agree with physics student - always said that I wouldn't buy a synthetic one, but I put a nuumed sheepskin girth sleeve over mine and it is great - elasticated at both ends and really cheap as well...
