Dressage girths

Plop the dressage saddle on her and measure. Usually you need a dressage girth in the region of 20" shorter than a long girth.

It does often depend on the dressage saddle and the length of the flaps and straps. I have to use differsnt length girths on each of my dressage saddles when on the same horse. Also some girths like Amerigo or Fairfax need to be 2-4" longer than your usual dressage girth size.

My horse who is in a 56" girth wears either a 24" or 26" and the one in a 60" girth wears 30" - 34" dressage.

Mine wears a 38" standard girth and a 20" dressage girth (mostly because finding shorter girths is hard!). That was an Ideal VSD to an Albion K2 dressage. A 24" short girth was better for his Jeffries Flyover though. I think docking 20" is fairly standard for GP to dressage.
