Dressage Jackets

Which sort of jacket is correct for dressage? I've always thought it was navy but looking on BE site, it says you should wear tweed. I suspect I'm wrong, can someone confirm this!?

Navy, black or tweed. Take your pick!

Tradition prob says navy or tweed for ladies.

Eventing tradition - tweed for Novices

**I think** For pure dressage it's usually black for men and navy for women, but you are allowed black, navy or tweed.
For eventing up to novice it's tweed, and for intermediate and above it's usually black for men and navy for women, but again i think you are allowed black, navy or tweed.

I'm not 100% sure though!

HS - You are right but i weara black dressage jacket with cream piping just becuase my colours have always been black and white.

I wear a black jacket for dressage too, but i only do unaff dressage so i wasn't sure if BD was more strict on tradition!

Agree with below, Tweed up to novice BE however seems to be north south divide

South stay with tweed and the more north you go the more blue/black you see...................not sure why, just noticed it ???

Ps I wear both depending on weather

Would you be fine eventing in a navy one or is it specifically tweed up to Novice?

i wore a black one for PN and Novice and it was fine, more people are wearing solid colours now.

BE have relaxed the rules. You see a fair amount of dark colours in the lower leves now. I still prefer tweed though.

Navy is fine.

It really is just a personal preference as all are strictly correct for BD & BE

I switch between black & tweed depending on my mood

It used to be tweed upto Novice, now you can wear either black or navy or tweed at lower levels. BD again, whatever you prefer,but see more people wearing black/blue than tweed with BD.
