Going to venture out for a walk/trot test but I need a dressage legal bit.

Currently ridden in a single jointed sweet iron gag which works perfectly as she’s strong and has a tendency to shoot across the school if spooked (real or imaginary).

I’m old, nervous and a bit crap, she’s old stubborn and strong willed!

We are having lessons but I’d like to take her out again, we haven’t done a dressage test since 2012, I think I did that in a hanging cheek but it was on grass so she was well behaved!

Well you are restricted to some sort of snaffle. There is a handy pictorial guide to what is and is not permitted on the BD website. Not sure anyone can help much without knowing you and the horse much better though. Ask your instructor.

It's a minefield but the default is to try the same mouthpiece in a different cheek.
If horse tends to fix in the hand then a loose ring might be better, if steering goes in the "moments" then perhaps a full cheek to keep the nose straight.
