Hi folks after a bit of advice, have just taken a new horse on loan and am hoping to start dressage with him (neither of us have done dressage before), his owner has been riding him in a quarter moon eggbutt snaffle and doesnt want me to change his bit as she is adament he wont go well in anything else.

I asked if i could change to a neue schule lozenge snaffle which i know are dressage legal but she told me he doesnt like the lozenge or french links as they pinch his tongue?

the bit looks like this except the full mouth is cyprium (almost like the same material as sprenger / kk / neue schule)

could anybody advise if I can use this bit for dressage as I cant see her letting me change his bit

thanks

It depends what level you are competing at and when these rules were made as there has been some recent changes in bits allowed which I discovered a month ago when buying bit for our second horse.

My mare competes prelim unaffiliated in a hanging cheek lozenge but it hasnt ports and this is legal.
