As you can see I am a "newby". But a very excited one. I have a lesson with Carl Hester on Saturday!!!!

I am slightly worried though as my horse (love him as I do) is "difficult". He came to me as he needed re-schooling, we have not done a too bad job considering he has been ridden badly in draw reins for most of his life before I got him and had a really poor start to his training. We have won a few pre-lims last winter and we were really getting somewhere, when he went intermittently lame and short behind, after lameness work ups and a bone scan he has been diagnosed with bone spavin but has come back after 3 months road work 99% sound! Vet has given us the all clear and he has been back schooling for the past month and is staying sound and enjoying the schooling sessions we have been doing. We are due to compete in our first Novice test at end of September.

The lesson is at Frogpool Manor (I know there are some local riders to me on here) you had to put your name in a draw to get picked, 8 people were, me being one of them!

I love dressage and have always liked Carl's style of riding, I hope I don't get too star struck!

Anyway, I will post after the event and let you all know how we went!

Ooh I'm going to watch this. A couple of my friends put their names forward for this too but didn't get picked. You're very lucky!

Sounds like you're doing really well with your boy, good luck!

I had my first lesson with him recently, at his yard, you will be fine, he is the nicest chap going, he will immediately put you at ease and you will forget that he is the 'top man'!! He is really encouraging and not at all up himself.

I hope you really enjoy it, and try and get some one to video you, I wish I had!

Let us know how it goes, piccies to!!

Claire, I think you are very brave!!! You're the 9.30 lesson aren't you? I'll be there with a friend, so I'll be sending you good vibes! I would not have had the confidence to do it, so you've already got my respect! I hope you're getting it videoed...
