dressage lessons in Portugal?

I'm off to Portugal next week - staying not far from Faro.

I'd love to get a dressage lesson on a gorgeous lusitano while I'm there - anybody know of/been to a riding school in the Faro area?

I would recommend it for the experience. I did a one hour lesson on one of the stallions - poor fellow only had one eye - and rode in a traditional portuguese saddle which was a bit different!

The one thing I could not believe was how quiet and placid he was to ride. Needed an awful lot of leg. I imagined they would be alot more spirited but speaking to a friend over there they are a very placid breed which is why they are kept entire. They cannot understand why we generally geld horses.

Lovely horses, fantastically trained and all super easy to ride. But it's in Alenquer, near Lisboa -- might be too far for you?

I've been twice to a place called Sanguinhera about an hour west of Lisbon. Fab horses and instructor, run by a German woman. Also possible to do lots of off road hacking.
