After some lovely encouragement from people on here, I am aiming at taking Zoom to her first dressage in a months time. It turns out that I totally got my wires crossed and there is no intro on the day I thought.

So I am planning on going to snowball farm instead to do the prelim. However...........Zoom and I are totally crap! She does a great giraffe impression and doesn't really bend and won't halt for more than a millisecond.

I don't really care what other people think, she has improved SO much and I'm only going for fun but, I am pooing myself.

Soooooo.............does anyone have any pics/videos/stories of truly horrendous dressage outings?

Just so I feel a bit better about my impending dressage FAIL

there was a good thread the other day about amusing dressage comments that'll make you feel better will try and find it

I have done dressage for years and been to quite a few regional champs etc so you could call me an old pro now lol.......

.....however I had early days when I was new to it all and I recall one very embarrassing competion when I entered at A as instructed by my caller, got half way up and realised there was no judge!!!.....my day got worse when I heard a toot behind me to tell me I had made an error of course.....which was?.....I had entered at C

me and my "Dressage Horse" got eliminated for dangerous behaviour in the arena... we were brill warming up and I even got asked if she was for sale! Then all hell let loose as we entered the arena, and eventually the judge rang the bell and sympathetically said "I think you'd better leave before somebody dies..." Embarassing cos this was an affiliated comp at a decent level at a posh venue and we'd had lovely comments from people when we warmed up and then all that happened. Oh poooooo.

i took my highland x to his first dressage last night and it was a horrible test! we were snaking when we entered the arena, then he broke during our second canter, then jumped out and back in the arena oh and let out an almight buck! but we still got 54% and "an attractive horse" you be fine just go out and enjoy it, we did. laugh at it now! he was too lazy to be bothered doing all his canter! enjoy it and lets know how you get on!

Riding an ex-stunt horse down the centre line, he was dawdling a bit so I gave him a boot and told him to 'get up' forgetting that was the command to make him rear!

Another occasion, I was riding a new horse, one with a little bit too much impulsion, and not very good brakes; I found this out when he jumped out of the arena! No word of a lie, I have the photograph somewhere, I'll try to dig it out tonight.

To give you a better impression........

Zoomy's bestest Salinero impression (she never was that good at impressions!)

My first ever ever dressage test....(I can't believe I am admitting this on here, but it should make you feel better!) I got 34% or 36 one or other! It was with ny beautiful giraffe horse also and we came out the arena a few times (the judge 'went blind' for one of them as it was a newcomers test and they were very supportive. If I remember correctly our first canter started on the wrong leg and I didn't know what the corrct thing to do was (seems obvious now but not then when I knew nothing!!!)

I've got a video of attempting to school last night on my supposed 'dressage horse' now that is a b;**dy sham s*dding horses!!

Whoops! I would love to see that photo!!

Zoomy tries so hard.......she just doesn't quite understand why anyone would want to ponce around a dressage arena when they could be galloping flat out with their head in the air chasing a white ball......she loved her polo by all accounts!

34%!!

It would be awesome to get that score! We are aiming to just finish the test in one piece so getting an actual score would be amazing!

I'll PM it too you when i get home. I had to get off in the end as I was so close to loosing the plot it was unture and I'd rather not have a major argument with her (don't tell her but it would be me that comes off worse - she's a big 'narky' sometimes!)

Hellspells, I thought my day was bad! The first test we got 72%, the next test we got 42%! Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeping horse. But your mark tops me now, so I feel better hehe

Don't you just love horses!!!!! But in fairness wimping 14year old and barmy ex racer is never a great mixture (not that I'm trying to justify it or anything........ lol )

Most of my tests are rubbish

Paddy would much rather go to a jumping party or hunt than ponce around. First test we did he neighed at practically every marker and the judge wrote on her comment sheet 'liked the sound effects'. Then his free walk on a long rein commanded the comment 'looks as if he has come out of a pub on a friday night!'.....

Hmmmm! Good luck with your test - I'm sure it will go better than you think!
