I have pretty long hair, so when I am competing I just tie it in a bun under my Beagler but it always gets loose

Any suggestions?

Good morning Becki! I have the opposite problem - how about plaiting it into a bun thing? I take it you put a hair net round it already? I put another scrunchie thing round the outside also, for extra security.

The hairnet is essential!! If I were you, I would put a pony tail in, plait down the length, band it into a shorter plait, hair net, then another band on outside. Also if you use gel to tame straggley bits! Wish I had that problem!

I just do it really tightly with a bobble

Right, so I need to invest in a hair net... great, will look like Norah Batty

Could I not get one to just put around the bun as opposed to the whole head?

Be prepared to do a very quick switch from Beagler to Baseball!!! haha, you cannot see underneath, and it is more secure with it around your head!!

Definatly buy a hair net. I tie my hair in a bun then put a hairnet over my whole head and then a srunchie over the bun to neaten it up.
If you dont want it over your whole head then you can twist the haynet to make it smaller to fit over the bun, then secure it with a bobble. This is what I sometimes do at work when I have to look extra tidy. I'll show you on saturday.

I put it all in a large hair net, looks a bit hilda hogdon ish, and then tie it into a bun with a scrunchy, once your hats on, the hilda effect is lost

I am unsure where to buy one but I got bought a hair clip which had frill like design over it and under had attached the net so you just cliped it as far up as possible just beneth your hat and put your hair in the net, was very smart.
Similar (but a lot smarter imo) to this http://www.horsetackinternational.com/images/bows-with-conchonb.jpg
If not then a stardard hair net and tie it as secure as possible.

I tie a pony tail low, then put it in a bun with a small hairnet over the bun and secure with a couple of bands. I use kirby grips for the layers that try and escape from the sides.

I had the majority of my hair cut off on Thursday!!

So now it's too short to tie back!

I have a ton of hair which is past my waist. I plait it, roll it up 3 or 4 times dep on exactly how long it is then put 2 sturdy pony tail bands around the middle, then put a hairnet over the whole lot. It does stay put.

Pony tail low, band, bun, band, hairnet, band, hairclip with net attached! and don't forget that you have all those bands in when you come to take it out - ouch! You can buy then from Robbies.

Yes, you can buy 'bun nets' which are very fine so pretty invisible against your own hair.

They look best when you put your pony tail through a bun ring, which is a kind of spongy doughnut shaped thing, smooth the hair outwards over the ring then put the bun net, over the top (I use two) and secure with a couple of hairgrips.

Try a good hair accessory shop, one of the showing suppliers such as Pretty Ponies or even a side saddle speacialist.

Put it in a hairnet - and if it is particularly difficult use two.
Try this - put the hairnet over your hair and then tie your hair in a pony tail positioned so that you can get your hat on comfortably. Then pull the second hairnet over the top, capture the pony tail in it and twist it round a couple of times (depending on the length) to make a bun shape. Then put a slim band around the base of the bun. This actually holds my bun in place without having to use any clips, however, to be on the safe side, you may need to use clips to start off with.

I plait mine very tightly, put a band round the bottom, then twist the plait into a tight bun and secure with a few more bands. That seems to keep it in place, and I hate hairnets!
