Where it says 'Between B&M transition canter/trot/canter' How much trot should I show? I was thinking of trying to trot just after B, 2-3 strides of trot, then pick up canter again probably just after R. Is that right? or do they expect more trot? Thanks from a complete dressage novice :)

Hi,

I too am a Dressage novice and have been discussing this very thing myself!!

I believe that there is no limit to the number of trot strides during this movement as long as it is completed between the markers...

I did this test last weekend and I showed about 3 or 4 strides and then asked for canter again. After discussing it with my trainer, it is a case of as long as you show some trot between those points, then you are fine as it doesn't specify a specific number of strides. I got a 6 and 7 for mine with no comment about the amount of trot shown so I'm guess the 3 or 4 strides was ok for that judge!:o

If they don't specifiy (naughty really, as it makes people wonder what they should be doing!) they I would say long enough to establish the pace, i.e. a minimum of 4 steps, probably more like 6.. depends on your horse really, you want to keep it all snappy enough to make them look really on the ball, as that's where you'll pick up marks ;0)

Thanks everyone, will have a couple of practices at home & see what seems to work. ound to all change in the test anyway!
