Is it true that you can do prelim at affiliated competitions without being registered with BD?
Or do I need a ticket? There are open and restricted sections, which would I be in if I'm unaffiliated?

thanks

Yes it's true that you do not need to be registered to do the prelims but you will have to enter the open section.

Yes thats right but you would be in a non qualifier section which means that you would not qualify for the regionals.
If you do want to qualify YOU need to be registered as you have to be a group 7 or 8 rider but your horse does not. You also need to get a Prelim ID number from BD but this is free. Your horse needs to have less than37 points.
oh and the id needs to be upgraded to full membership if you get tothe summer/winter regionals/area festivals.

thank you, I'll ring BD now for my number and send my entries off
