After my recent lesson reports, and my alternative lesson report, i thought i would post in here also my show report. This is also posted in CR as people in there follow our progress also.
So today was the day.
Delicia has been going fab in the snaffle (canter still a little hit and miss but i have learnt how much my own body influences this). After a fab lesson with Clear Light yesterday, i was ready.
Luckily delicia wasnt too dirty as i got up late, and got caught in traffic on the way there, so was a little tense arriving at the yard. A cuddle and a kiss from the neddy sorted that out and i started to set about making her look pretty. She plaited up lovely and i shoved some calmer down her throat. however as she spat most of it out i am still unsure as to whether she felt any effect from it.
The warmup was veyr crowded. There were 7 big horses cantering around. Humming the theme tune to the adams family in my head to distract myself and stop me getting tense, i started walkign delicia around. I am taking great care that she does not become stuck in one head carriage. Clearl light taught me the value of changing where i ask dee to put her head. If she is a little spooky i ask for a tiny bit of LDR till she calms and ask her to come up into a more correct outline. She was very soft and supple over her back, its still taking her some times to accept my right leg aide but it is a hell of a lot better.
Soon it was my turn, i walked her around the arena up until the bell rang and i asked for a very soft and slow trot. The more i gave to delicia the more she rewarded me. I could have cried she was such a good girl. She did not play up once. She cantered when i asked, her right canter is more supple then her left, she falls out on her outside shoulder on the left rein, again, its a working progress. I am a little too hard on myself at times.
The test was prelim 15, a nice little test, i knew the difficulty would be the two canters and then the walk directly after the canter. But i needn't have worried, she was amazing. We finished the test on a lovely square halt, her head was up but she was immobile which is the key thing. A huge pat and a kiss.
I was the second to last person in so luckily for me the scores went up quite quickly. I had entered the novice, but as delicia was so good, i withdrew from it. I would much rather end on a good note, where delicia is calm and relaxed and taking it all in, then have a fight for a chance of a rossette.
I dismounted and went to get my test sheet....... it took everything not to burst into tears. 12 x 7's and 6 x 6's later we had scored a whooping 66.95%!!!! ARGHHHH!!!!
The test was miscounted in the first count and i thought i had scored 63.91%, which i was also very happy with, but to get a score of 66.95% is amazing! Its the best score delicia has ever achieved affiliated, and her second best test score, ever!!
The best thing? She was judged by a judge that marked us at 51% 3 months previously when delicia had a meltdown.
I am so utterly proud of my horse and i am so greatful that i took a leap of faith and listened not only to everyone around me, but to the people of this forum also, how told me not to be scared, and to believe in myself and my horse. Instead of partaking in the second test, i schooled her in the warm up. I am so glad i did because she just kept giving me more and more and i can honestly say i have never ridden such a talented horse with such a big heart as hers!
I cam 4th out of 12 people, the winner was only 1.5% ahead of me. When delicias left rein comes on, i know we will do even better.
Thank you to Frodo and Clear Light for all the help you have given me, thank you to Always Hensey for allowing me to see actually i am too hard on myself, and thank you to everyone who believed in us. Delicia is all tucked up nomming her hay. She is happy and contented. I could not ask for more.
xxx lots of love, Delicia and I xxx
