Took Gin out yesterday to do our first elementary and a novice warm up.
She was so chilled which is unlike Gin as she gets scared if other horses come too close. She was as cool as a cucumber, so went down to do our novice test and Gin took an objection to the judges sat in their hut.

She wasnt quite off my leg enough and was a little inatentive but I wasnt too bothered as it was only a warm up test.
Started to warm Gin up for the elementary and started to put the pressure on a bit more. She got a bit arsey as I had tightened her flash so she couldnt get her tongue over the bit

Took her down to the arena and did a nice test. She was concentrating and listening although the trot work was a bit wishy washy.
I put Gin back in the box and went to check my scores. I had won the restricted novice and was 2nd overall. Was so chuffed with my little girl. Waited ages for my scores for the elementary but it was worth the wait. We ended up winning that too 9 marks ahead of everyone else. I was so pleased as the judge is known for being harsh with her marking. There were only 2 marks over 60%

Gin has improved so much since we have been having more lessons. We have come home with a 1st at every comp this year.

A big thanks to Ludi_doodi who was my groom, she did a great job.

Little_mare, did you go? I think I watched you warming up and then watched your test. How did you do? Your test looked fantastic.

Ive already qualified for the novice so did the non qualifier, I got just under 65%.
In the elementary I got 63% so not a qualifying score unfortunatly. Im not too bothered about qualifying her for elementary as I want to have a play around with it first. I dont want to move her up the levels too fast and shes still in prelim points!

Well done!

The real "Little Mare" who usually travels well got worked up and over heated on the way there - pretty stressful so I didn't watch any other tests but yours must have been very good! (Still not exactly sure who you are! What's your box like, is it a pale blue 3.5? If so I do know!)

I'm glad the judge is known for giving low marks (they all seemed low!) because I was a little disheartened with my 60% (though all the comments seemed fair), the test was far from perfect but ho hum, we were still 3rd

Yes thats the Ginny mobile

I was stood by the entrance watching you work in for the novice then followed you down to watch your test. Me and G were commenting on how nice it is to see ponies going well and how when warming up you could probably ride under all the other horses!

We really liked your test, everything looked so easy. The judge likes to see horses really up in front and bouncing, she is well known for giving everyone scores in the 50's. Getting in the 60's is a big achievement

Now I definatly know who you are I will come and say hi. I didnt want to embarass myself walking up to the wrong person
grin.gif

Yes, I will too! I'm Lizzy by the way so you don't have to use Little_Mare in public!

I've written for the judge before but that was at a BUSA comp at uni so the marking's different. From her low marking I've said she was a right meanie but she was really very nice! Do you think she wants to keep the numbers down at the regionals?!

I wish the warm-up was closer to the ring - pony always thinks we might have finished when we walk over to the test!

Yes it would be quite strange shouting little mare across the car park!

She is a nice person, she just likes a certain way of going that the average horse doesnt do! Its probably so that she doesnt have much competition when she takes her horses to the regionls.

I know what you mean about the warm up, it is a long way and they tend to lose concentration. Ive been told that they have applied for planning permission for another indoor school. The one they have got is fantastic.

That'd be lovely especially if it's like the one they have now, I hope they do get permission
smile.gif
Much better in the winter too - being so close to the ground we got totally splattered in the outdoor school when it was wet in february!

Thank you! The pleasure was all mine, it was good being out and about at comps even if only to watch rather than ride myself! Well done to both of you again.

I didn't realise there was another HHO-er there - well done to Little Mare too. I did think you were going to ride right underneath that huge bay that was warming up with you!

I get the feeling that the big bay might be up for sale soon if the rider has anything to do with it!

Thanks again G I really appreciate it. Gin is having a well deserved day in the field.
