Went to a new place for dressage on Sat with Kat B and Goddy. The warm up was awful as it was absolutely sodden - my newly washed horse soon had 4 muddy brown legs and my boots were filthy with splashes

First test was Prelim 18. Warmed up ok considering the going but got into the arena and I might as well not have been there - she was dreadful. She was spooking at the cows in the field next door and did'nt like the judge in his little hut

It was all I could do to steer but it wasn't stylish she just towed me round. I was really fed up as it was by far our worst test to date (ok it was only our 4th ever test but it is nice to improve isn't it?) We had an hour until our next test but I got back on her about 40 mins before the test and tried to knock the edge off her - she is so full of it at the moment. To be honest by the time it got to our test we were bored and walking round on a long rein. We went into the arena to do Novice 25 and she immediately started jogging - and I just wanted to get it over with. BUT she wasn't that bad - little hurried and the medium trot was a little unbalanced but she tried for me. The lengthened strides in canter was 'lively' and I was a bit worried that we would just gallop off past the judge

So left the arena and was relieved it was over. She had tried for me and by this time was tired. It was her 5th ever test and our first attempt at Novice. So I was really really happy to score 60.48% and come 3rd. A rosette

Yes I know I am shallow and childlike but it made my day! The other bonus is that it was a trailblazers test and we have qualified for the second round. As for the first test I have erased it from my memory and we were lucky I think to score 57.5%
Thanks for reading.

At least sand can be washed off again, and you didn't fall off in it!!
Second test sounds great - well done for the rosette.
