Also in CR.
As I suspected, my physio / saddle fitter has confirmed that my old Albion has contributed to giving my gelding a sore back in the loin area.

The problem now is, he has changed shape that much, I think I'm going to struggle to find one to fit.

He is very short backed, physio thinks he won't take one bigger than 16" (god job I'm skinny!)

However, when the saddle sits where it needs to sit, the girth straps are gong to need to almost lie much further forward to reach the proper place for them to sit if that makes sense.

I.e. my current dressage DOES still fit, but when it sits where is correct, the girth straps lie too far back, almost liike a bucking strap.

So I need a new dressage saddle that will sit far enough back on his back but the girth straps still sit forward.

Stubben for a short back every time. The padding below the cantle has an upward curve not a downward curve so the saddle doesn'e sit as long as other makes. Stubbens have always been right for my short backed boys, I sem to like shorter backed horses for some reason.;)

If your budget will allow go for a WOW saddle - he can have a 16" panel, you can have a bigger seat on that panel if you require it or go for the same size and the girthing arrangement can be altered for each horse so the fact that he has a forward girth groove doesn't matter

The above sounds like it would mean very concentrated weight rather than well spread.

Suggest you look at a HM vogue - they are a bit like a lilo when you are sat on it and curl up a little so no pressure on the very back. There is a 16'' on preloved atm!

Yes, I had been recommended the HM treeless saddles. Have contacted my local agents, but want to wait until they have the flexEE in stock...

Is this that vogue one?

My horse sounds similar but he can take up to a 17 inch at a push. I was told he needed a saddle shaped like the Jaguars and Amerigo, which allow more room for the rider but the panels are sort of banana shaped so theres less on his back, sorry hard to explain what I mean but the traditional shaped panels like on the Albion meant they sat past his last rib. The Jaguar didnt cause this problem as the panels swept up off his back in this area.

Yep thats it - though actually looks like the GP cut to me! FlexEEs are going to be great tis just the wait driving everyone nuts!

Amerigo's are very good on short coupled horses- they aren't too bulky, and aren't too long in the seat/panels, saying that, one of mine has an Albion and it fits perfectly!
