Just wondering what sorts of dressage saddles people have for their TB's.

I will be after one at some point for mine, and wondered what other people have got. My TB has a "Symonds" GP saddle, which seems to be a "magic" saddle for TB's (fits my NH type and flat type TB!), but second hand symonds dressage saddles seem to be a rarity!

I dont want to buy a new one. Hawk Event saddle also fits.

bates and barnsby work well on TB's......both mine have Innovas, and client has just upgraded from a basic barnsby to an innova too.

imagine WOWs would come in a TB shape as so many configurations.

stubben are very TB shaped saddles but i find them unsupportive for the rider.

albions another option but i dont get on with them as saddles (not PS shape at all!)

I had an old school Stubben one that fitted all 3 of my very different shaped TB's a treat. It just seemed to mould to fit each of them even though they are very different shapes. It didnt have a big block or a very deep seat but it was lovely, very open but secure, and the horses went well in it. Sadly had to sell it to fund a new jump saddle but I'd have one again if I could find one.

I'm looking at the Barnsby dressage saddles at the moment as I have a Barnsby CC jump that also fits everything (looking for another one of them at the mo for new beast because I love the one I have so much), had a couple of Barnsby GP saddles and they fitted the TB with well too. Will probably get one next year once I have some cash and we know how wide the new boy is going to be, I'd imagine the dressage saddles to be as well made and comfortable as the others in their range.

I know a few TB owners with Albions but I've found them to be too 'big' for my Tb's, that might just be because my mare is only 15.3, but even on the bigger boys they just engulf their backs. Lovely saddles to ride in though.

Look at Passier too if they are within your budget, had a Grand Gilbert that I only sold as my bum got to big for it (do'h) but it fitted the Tb shape a treat and was looooooovely to sit in.

I find Stubens very hard on the bottom myself!

A Wow would definitely fit, the fitter will fit a headplate to the withers, then pick a panel to fit (everything from skinny panels with stitch lines to bend around the top of the shoulder blade, to double depth panels to fit into hollows behind the shoulder), and then the right panel length for the horses back, and then final adjustment to the air in the panels... You need to sit on one first though, some people don't like them because the seat is "waisted" i.e. you sit on a sausage effectively. I love mine but my Mum hates riding in it!

I love my WOW and jsut had mine fitted to my new ex racer. Before that she had a Tekna dressage saddle which fitted well - and is for sale ;)

I have a Charles Mountfort for my ex NH TB and it fits him like a glove. I think you can pick them up quite cheaply secondhand.

I've always had Ideal saddles on mine.
Had a jessica on one and a yummy suzanna on another.
But i love Ideal saddles so i didn't really try any others

I've got a Kieffer on mine - I find it really comfy and it fitted him out of the box.
It was a real bargain as well as although it was secondhand, it had only been used for about a month and was virtually new.

I have a Farrington and it's the most comfy saddle I've ever had. They aren't expensive either - well worth a look if you can find a supplier

Old ex-racehorse suited the TB cut old Albion saddles, both jumping and dressage, as has a huge wither. Younger one just didn't fit any Albions I tried on him at all - used an Exselle saddle which was great on him, but it is one of those weird saddles that seems to fit everything!

Reg suits Albions (he has a Collegiate jumping saddle which fits him really nicely, which is a version of an Albion!) and the old fashioned Stubbens (the new ones are too banana-shaped for him). He fitted the Barnsby dressage saddle until recently, where it began pressing down at the back too much- think he's too wide in the shoulder for it?

My TB that i lost had very high long withers, i had an ideal suzzanah for her and loved it but it has to be sold when she went and i got a flat backed wide WB!. She is has an ideal int event wide seat saddle which was custom made with extra gullet in and longer points.

I adored this saddle so much and am having so much trouble trying to get one to fit my current horse. I have one in the process of being made at ideal which is a tonisha and if that comes and doesnt fit im having a tonisha sumpreme customised.

I love ideal saddles and havent yet found a branch so versatile and wiiling to custome make for you.

I can post some pics of the saddle on my TB and her back shape if it helps?
