I am trying out a new dressage saddle (well, the demo anyway) for a week, and I am not sure about it. It feels as though it is forcing my lower leg backwards and I am used to my other mare's Albion SLK Ultima which has a lovely deep seat whereas the one I am trying is a flatter seat.

Do you think I should give it a bit longer, or do you think when when you know it is not right, it is simply not right?

The problem is, the person who came out to try to find me a saddle has tried all of her makes on my mare, and none seemed right. So, the second question is, would you get someone else out (I do know of another SMS member who has different makes including Albion) and try some more?

I feel as though I should try some more before making any decisions, especially as I do not feel happy with the one I have at the moment. But the first saddler has spent a lot of time trying to fit a saddle for us, but none of her makes seem to fit both my horse and me.

I'd be inclind to try some more. I you aren't comfy, your horse won't be either.

After a week I'd say you know whether the saddle is right or not for you, I'd get someone else out and try some other types if I were you

There's no point buying a saddle which you aren't happy with.

I would have to recommend my WOW saddle (and my fitter Fiona Reddick). You can have the saddle custom made to suit you AND your geegee. There are 4 different shape seats to choose from and I cant fault the service. The saddles are made from excellent quality soft leather (again - type of leather and colours are all optional) and its one price no matter what combination you go for.

I used to ride on an Albion and the 2 simply DO NOT compare.

Grace seems to quite like it, but I feel it may become quite low over the withers as it has been stuffed recently but after some use I think it will drop too low.

Hi Becki, I think that if you dont feel the saddle is right, then it isn't! I would just say thank you, and try the other saddle fitter. The saddle plays a big part in things, you must get one that you are really happy with! ~I have, in the past, done the same thing, sure you will find something that fits you both. Good luck!

Thank you... it is so hard finding the right one I have discovered. I think Grace must be a slightly strange shape, she is WBxTB and seems to be causing some problems!

Had my wow a year and needed zero adjustments in the air despite changes in the headplate.

Also be aware you can do adjustments to the flair yourself once you get used to the saddle a bit

Come on he is 3 weeks now (I tihnk) I would imagine he is fine, and should be able to stand still all day! I think you let him get away with too much!

Around the £1500 mark for the competition saddle i think (the new club saddle is around £1000 it seems). They altered their prices recently though so perhaps Weezy is the best person to ask as she ordered one a few weeks ago.

The Wow competitor is £1,595 for the complete saddle including stirrup leathers.

If you want extra flaps they are around £400 and a girth is £129.

They sent me a price list as im hoping to get one. But if you think about it you'll never need to get another saddle even if you get a different horse. And they are worth it when you see the results!
