I have just purchased a lovely dressage saddle it is a Bates Caprilli dressage saddle.... I put my old leathers from my GP saddle on them and I could feel them digging into the top of my thigh and was not comfortable at all....... are there different leathers on a dressage saddle, if so what ones are there.....??

I have never bought one before and this one didn't come with leathers.... Excuse the ignorance, I have been riding for many, many years but you never stop learning do you.... I am still ignorant about a lot of things but I freely aknowledge this and never think that I know everything and am happy to learn but if you have only had GP saddles then dressage saddles are a whole new ball game...

Eager to learn more... Can anyone help...

I have a Bates also, but I think the reason you are feeling the leathers is because the stirrup bars on a dressage saddle are set further back than they would be on a GP saddle, thus putting them in place you're not used to. You don't "have" to use special leathers, but the ones with the buckle at the ankle might work better for you.
