My horse is now in full work and growing/filling out by the week!!

I'd like to buy him a decent dressage saddle but don't want to fork out for one, for it to not fit in a months time. I'd like to get him (when I say I, I mean his part-loaner ) out and about doing a bit of unaff this summer.

Does anyone have a dressage saddle with interchangeable gullets? I'd preferably like one with big knee rolls. What make is it and how much (roughly) did it cost? Budget at a push would be £800 and I'd probably like to buy second hand.

Wintecs don't fit :(

Thanks :)

I have a standard Thorowgood T4 for my young mare. We have had it about a year and half and its been adjusted 3 times now with her ever expanding shoulders (she was 3 1/2 when it was originally bought and fitted) I paid just over £350 for it new and its still in excellent condition.

I've got a T4. Did you mean a T6? Isn't that the dressage saddle? My T4 is definetly a GP :D

I'll check out the others thank you!!

I've got a Bates Isabell Werth dressage saddle, interchangeable gullet (they also make Wintec). In leather, big adjustable knee rolls, virtually everything adjustable in fact. Puts you in the right slot & feels like a comfy armchair to ride in. EM if interested.

Thorowgood and equivalent Kent & Masters and Wintec/Bates all have decent quality changeable gullet dressage saddles. There are other brands, but between the above most saddlers are able to fit horse n rider.

I have a new Wintec Isabella werth and love it - it even has memory foam to make you feel v secure!!

From what I understand it has a wider gullet that the old style and larger pads so maybe if you have a 'skinny' horse the old style may be slightly better, but for me and my 'light cob' the new style is better.

Ditto this - I love my Isabel Werth :D

^^ ditto - just acquired one. I didn't think I'd like it, as I've had the old one, and not been impressed, but it's much better. Bigger and softer load bearing panels than the old one, and generally more comfortable. My only issue is with the girth over strap - its a b****y nuisance, especially when I'm in a hurry. I cut the one off the old saddle, but the new one is moulded on, so I can't this time.
