Can anyone recommend a dressage saddle with a narrowish twist?

I currently have a 17.5" med/wide ideal jessica. I love everything about it other than the width of the twist. I suffer with hip pain and my saddle really does make this worse esepcially when trying to do half pass etc. Im aware I will never have a narrow twist as my horse needs a med/wide but just wondered if anyone else suffers with the same issue or has any ideas.

Thanks

i'm having one specifically made to measure with a narrow twist as my hips dont like standard width saddles. horse is only a medium so can take the narrow but they're difficult to find off the peg.

I find my friend's Antares (both dressage and jumping) and Prestige (jumping) saddles both to have a narrow enough twist - not sure on the Prestige dressage though because I've never seen one, but might be worth a look?

For something a bit different though, especially if you struggle to find one to fit you and your horse, I tried a treeless today and found the Total Solutions 'smart' dressage saddle to be really comfy. Twist wasn't as narrow as my (treed) jumping saddle but was much narrower than all other treelesses I've ever sat in - sadly can't afford that saddle and food for next term though :(

ETA: I've never ridden in an Ideal saddle so don't know how they feel, but I couldn't get on with my old Thorowgood GP because the twist was too wide, and struggled with a Jeffries but put that down to the horse being wide!

I have recently changed from an Albion SLK to a Kieffer Piet for just this reason. It is a lovely saddle and is noticeably narrower, my instructor commented on it immediately she tried it. Has helped me no end with my hip and right leg problems. Only problem for some people is that the knee rolls are on the outside of the flaps, but for me that was a big plus.

i have a keiffer and find it really comfy - mine is M/W :) think mine is an "old" model and have been warned by some saddlers that the modern keiffers can have a narrow gullet - mine has decent width though.

Thank you for your advice

BronsonNutter - I ride my friends horse I a prestige dressage saddle and find it a lot more comfortable but he is only a narrow/med.

Dreckly and Coss - I have never really looked at kieffer as have always looked really bulky IMO and my horse only scrapes 15hh so she can't carry off anything too big but I will have a look at them now

Keiffers have fairly narrow twists as far as I am aware, I have ridden in a lot of different ones and they go easy on my rather creeky joints :)

I have the Munchen GP at home, I wouldn't ride in anything else out of choice, love it :)

I have a Kieffer Piet-everyone who rides in it comments on how comfy&armchair-like it is. I need a narrowish twist&it suits me. Plus,as a piece of craftmanship,it is beautiful.

I have a MW albion platinum ultra, with a narrow twist - v v comfy! Rode in someone elses albion slk with a regular twist and it was evil!

I have to say I find my Albion SLK has a fairly narrow twist, this could be due to my saddle being only a Medium fitting as I also found this with the Albion Style - I didn't like the Ideal Jessica due to the twist feeling a lot wider.

amerigo model "cortina"has a narrow twist and is a relatively small saddle so really does suit smaller horses everyone says how comfy mine is wouldnt change for anything now [previously had ideal jessica and albion ]

I've always found Albions very wide

They tend to be wide with standard 'off the peg' choices, but you can get them made up for you with a narrow twist. Mine has the narrowest twist of all the DR saddles I tried before buying it, nice and comfy! Worth looking at the different options of a saddle as with most brands you can often get tweaks made so it is comfy for you.

My Passier Corona had the narrowest twist out of all the ones I tried (and thankfully the horse liked it the most too). I have big thighs rather than narrow hips, so I need a narrow twist else my legs feel like they're being yanked out of their hip sockets.

I think lots of saddles can be made with narrower twists. I tried a Black Country on that was like doing the spilts, I hated it, but the saddler said she could have it made for me virtually to any spec, including a narrow twist. Horse didn't like that saddle at all though so I never got to test a narrower twist.

Both my horsies are wide and have wide tree saddles. I wouldnt say my Albion SL or my Black Country were narrow twisted. But on the Black Country I have the single drop leathers which are much less bulky and help a bit with this issue as there is no bulky leather and buckle adding more width. Just a thought as something you could try !

I have terrible problems with hip pain in dressage saddles. The only dressage saddle I have ever been comfortable in (and I could ride in it all day) is a Devoucoux Milady, forward cut and small knee rolls.
