Hiya !

I know this has been done many times before but I need your advice - I need a new dressage saddle - last year I brought the jeffries elite which I was pleased with but my boy has changed shape and it now doesnt fit - ive also realised it doesnt really fit me!
I dont really have a budget so am happy to consider Dev's, Butet's etc. My horse is a large b'warmblood with a very high wither and is mw fit but would love something made to measure. I am 5'11 and found alot of the "off the peg" saddles didnt fit me.

Ideas please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sx

I sat in a few dressage saddles at YHL and I was really taken with the Barnsby range. They will come out with their entire range and let you try different seats, blocks etc before going away and making you a bespoke saddle. What appealed to me though was their aftercare service. It's one thing selling a customer an expensive saddle but another to ensure the customer is happy with it and come out for a follow up visit - very impressed.

Have to say completely agree with ISZ, like Barnsby saddles but am even more impressed after seeing them at YHL. Their new saddle (cant remember the name!) was beautiful and sat you in exactly the right position and was SO comfy.

I dont think Jaguars fit him - I tried a jump one. Shame cause I like the bit of bling on the back ! ( sad I know)
Hope Barnsby will be at Olympia !

the new Semiflex by Barrie Swaine, My dressage saddle (lovely and comfy, and i'm 5'10") is the forerunner to the semiflex. This page and site describe the ethos behind them etc
http://www.bettersaddles.co.uk/acatalog/Barry_Swain.html

they are serge lined, so very comfy for the horses, have large soft flat panels, flat tree (same shape as a horse's back, ideal to spread the rider's weight, not banana-shaped like a lot of saddles.)
Bettersaddles is an agent of his, but I'll be able to find out if you have someone closer to you if you wanted to try one. they're all made to measure.

I have a Aurora Barnsby 18" m/wide black only 12months old if you would like to try it, PM me, I'm in essex so not to far from you, No longer have a horse it fits.

Have you tried an Amerigo? - I've used them for years and I really like them- I have the close contact dressage and the Alto Pinerolo dressage- although I didn't get mine made to measure, they will make them to measure for you. They come in loads of fittings though and place you in a nice position and my horses feel really 'free' and supple through the back in them. May be worth a try....

Im an ideal saddle girl myself.

I have my saddler bring out the new model "suzannah" in a month to try on my girl.

I have had one made to measure ( an intl wide seat event ) and they even adapted the point on the tree and put deeper panels in it. The longer points gave it life with it being narrow along with the inserted gussest im liking the idea of the new one they have launched.
